选项分析：

(A)from a one-page writing sample that it can assess

【错误】 句子意思：“from a one-page writing

sample”本意上是“assess”的状语，合起来表意为“从一页书写样本中评估出(人格特征)”，那么为了修饰“assess”，“from a one-page

writing sample”本应与其处于同一个主谓结构内，也就是“that”之后的从句中，而不是出现在“that”之前的主句中。

(B)from a one-page writing sample it has the ability of assessing

【错误】 句子意思：“it has the ability of

assessing……”和“claims”之间的“that”被省略了，在GMAT考察的标准书面英语中，长难句的that最好不要省略。不仅如此，选项省略“that”之后“from

a one-page writing

sample”在语法上有修饰“claims”的可能，表达出“从一页书写样本中宣布”的不合理含义，而其本意上要修饰“accessing”，因此本选项表意不明确。

【错误1】固定搭配：不存在“ability of doing sth.”表达“有能力做某事”的用法。

【错误2】 句子意思：类似地，见(B)中“句子意思”，“from a one-page writing

sample”本意上要修饰“accessing”，但这一预期的修饰关系并未明确建立。

【正确】 正确使用了“to be able to do sth.”的固定搭配，“from a one-page writing

sample”正确地作状语修饰了动词“assess”(状语不仅可以用来修饰谓语动词，还可用来修饰非谓语动词)。由于“including(包括)”不是一般意义的动词现在分词形式而是一种特殊介词，逗号加“including”属于特殊用法，这种结构无论出现在句中还是句尾均用来修饰名词，表示被修饰名词概念“包括”的内容。

【大意】 一个专门分析手写字的公司宣称有能力从一页书写样本中评估300项人格特征，包括热情、想象力和志向。

(E)being able to assess, from a one-page writing sample

【错误】 固定搭配：不存在“claim being able to”的用法。

解题思路：

围绕“from a one-page writing sample”的修饰关系进行语义分析，(A)、(B)、(C)表意不明，排除。

即便不知道“claim being able to”是错的，也可以根据“being”相对不简洁排除(E)，因此选择(D)。
