11.Oblique (adj.) Indirect; slanted. As in: "He watched sleepily the flakes,

silver and dark, falling obliquely against the lamplight." —James Joyce,

12.Churlish (adj.) Impolite, hard to work with. As in: "'Wretched inmates!' I
