Long gone are the days when the sale of a product was mainly determined by
the demand of consumers. Advertisements have come to exert an increasingly
important role in stimulating the sale. Some cannot help wonder whether
advertisements benefit both the economy of a society and individuals on
whole.
Some hold the view that an advertisement is in itelf evil. The desire of
manufacturers to maximize profits has made them indifferent to the interests of
both the public and individuals. The promotion by these manufacturers is one of
the ways to cheat people of their pocket money. However, all of these are the
common prejudices that some people harbor against promotions. As a matter of
fact they are unsatisfied either because they have too much expectation for a
product or because their purchases are based on impulses rather than reason.
Thus, the efforts of manufacturers to promote their products are not to blame.
On the contrary,allowing us to know how a product can render our life
convenient, advertisements benefit usby making our demands fully met.
Manufactures also are fully justifie publicizing their products. Related laws
ensure that there will not be any so-called exaggeration and that any attempt by
a company to deceive will be severely punished. Highly competitive and mature
global market means any company cannot survive if it fails to attach due
importance to promotion. The market department of a company is as important as
other departments. Thus, how can we suppose the economy to prosper if there is
noadvertisement? Media thrive on advertising costs that manufacturers pay.
Manufacturers, whose sale rely heavily on advertisement, pay taxes that are an
indispensable part Of the government revenue.
In conclusion, the statement that advertisements have negative social
influence does not stand close scrutiny. They benefit the society and
individuals on the whole. Related laws means ensure that there is no act of
deception in any advertisement and highly competitive market necessitates
promotion.
