Nowadays, reading the newspapers tremendously helps readers broaden the

views. However, whether we should trust the news source remains a controversial

issue. I agree with the view that regardless of the universally received

industrial regulations, we cannot completely trust the reporters.

First, it is obvious that journalists will lean forwards over-reporting or

exaggerating negative stories to hook viewers and thus maximise sales. This is

because once the media is run by private, the ultimate target of media companies

now is to seek maximum economic profits. As a result, we will always read the

big media hype for the news reports that are no longer objective.

Moreover, when the media is totally manipulated by the governments in some

countries, the objectiveness in the reports are much more scarce. The

authorities do not like or even directly forbid publishing news reports which

are against them. So in these situations, though the media are full of praise

and admiration, the citizens themselves in these countries will not trust what

they say at all.

That is not to say that the contents in the newspapers are not truthful

thoroughly. It is often reported in the media that some journalists sacrifice

themselves to unveil the truth of events in perilous areas. But to be honest,

these dedicated employees are unfortunately few.

In sum, viewers should have their own judgements among the numerous news

reports; meanwhile, what the reporters should keep in mind is the

responsibility, impartiality and objectiveness in their work. Only by doing so

can we ensure that the media industry will develop in a healthy environment.
