Paragraph 4: 分别总结主体段阐述过的优缺点。
雅思写作真题范文
With affordability of cars and more disposable incomes of most families,
recent decades have seen an increase in the number of people who purchase and
own their own cars. There would seem to be clear benefits for individuals and
drawbacks to environment.
The first point to make is that there are some merits to increasing purchases
of private cars for individuals. For one, cars allow for more convenience and
mobility on a daily basis. Regarding convenience, cars are accessible for people
right in the garage or near their houses, instead of making one’s way to a bus
stop or train station, saving a great amount of time. In terms of mobility,
people could commute or travel to a faraway place. For example, people could
travel to outer suburbs that are poorly serviced by public transport, even where
it is available but can be prohibitively expensive. For another, cars give a
much greater degree of comfort and shelter. When suffering severe whether while
travelling, people have a warmer and cleaner room to stay in, without waiting
out in the open bus stop or crowded railway station, which seems to be
impossible in a public transport.
There are, of course, negative aspects to buying excessive cars. Based on
environment side, firstly, more pedestrians accidents have been reported
annually. As the usage of private cars increases, it is more probable that
people walking through the street are killed by being exposed to a multitude of
cars. Safety was universal and unquestioned but today it is no exaggeration to
say that one false move, just one distracted or unguarded step could result in
result or injury. Apart from accidents, it is not uncommon that more cars entail
severe environmental pollution with air and noise pollution involved. It is
reported that the automobile is responsible for up to 80 percent of urban air
pollution that chokes our cities, being the culprit of global warming. If the
number of cars remains on the rise widely, the figure for city dwellers who

suffer from respiratory disorders would surge beyond projections. As noise
pollution is concerned, it exerts an adverse impact on people’s hearings and
mental health.
As has been seen, there are major benefits to owning more cars, not least
because they facilitate people’s life and can be more flexible. This is
balanced, however, by the fact that this trend affects the environment
negatively by causing fatal accidents and too much pollution.
