Task：The Table below shows the income and expenditure of Harckley Hall, a

public place for hiring over the period of three years.

Sample answer：

The table illustrates how the income and expenditure of Harckley Hall (a

public place for hiring) vary during three years.

Regarding to the income of hiring room, its figure rises from ￡33,000 to

￡34,000 over the first two years while drops by ￡2000 in the following year. In

comparison, the income of Cafe doubled from ￡3,000 in year one to ￡6,000 in year

three although the number is much smaller than that of the former category.

In terms of funding for that public place, it seems that local council

allocates less than other bodies, investing ￡22,000 in initial year and ￡20,000

in both year two and three. On the contrary, the total of funds from local

council is only ￡55,000.

Overall, it can be seen that even if the total income increases from year one

to year two, more money is paid out therefore the profits decline. In the last

year, in spite of the smaller expenditure, the total income reduces, so it gains

the least profits of￡1,000.
