Scientific research should be carried out and controlled by the government

As an integral part of the well-being of mankind, scientific experiments

are usually suggested to be conducted and managed by administration, yet I

entertain the view that the private sector should also be involved.

Behind government’s efforts are several merits, among which the most

conspicuous one is that some money-consuming research yet without immediate

value can be performed by corridors of power. To illustrate, some large-scale

missions, such as inventing a spacecraft with a high level of accuracy,

precision and sophistication, often require an input of colossal amounts of

budgets, which may be beyond the reach of most individual or private

organisations, and the absence of foreseeable profits may also incur little

incentive for them. // Besides, studies in certain domains, especially national

defence and military, should be implemented by government in case money-driven

businesses may compromise principles and leak research findings for the sake of

raking in profits, thus posing a threat to national security.

in the market and making more money, private businesses have every reason to

refine the processing and develop new products at a rather low cost by

conducting various scientific researches. Under such motivation, their working

efficiency and productivity will be enhanced.// Additionally, it is because

private enterprises are market-oriented that they are more likely to develop

inventions with more pragmatic value so as to cater to customers’ needs.
