Some people think instead of preventing climate change, we should find ways

When it comes to the issue about the future of our environment, some people

may argue that human beings need to avoid climate change, but I may approve of

the idea that it may be better for mankind to adjust to the changing

environment.

Admittedly, climate change may contribute to more disasters, which may be

detrimental to human beings. It is acknowledged that the temperature of the

earth may gradually rise due to the greenhouse effect caused by gas emitted by

cars. If such a tendency cannot be reverse, there may be more severe

consequences, such as more flood and severe famine. Nevertheless, it seems not

so realistic for human beings to stop such a trend.

Initially, adjusting to the change of the environment may be an optimal

choice to maintain the stability of our society. Although some environmentally

friendly technologies are adopted currently, a lot of traditional industries

that do harm to the environment still exist. If governments directly forbid

those industries, the unemployment rate will soar steeply, causing social

conflicts as a result. In order to avoid such a phenomenon, governments need to

find alternatives to adjust to the environment, but not roughly closing those

obsolete factories.

Furthermore, compared to preventing climate change, living with it seems more

realistic. It is true that human beings cause and accelerate the process of

climate change, but it does not necessarily mean that human beings could reverse

this tendency. For example, if people reduce the use of private cars, the

tendency of global warming may be slower, but the temperature of the earth may

still rise gradually. Thus, compared to eliminating such a tendency, developing

some new technologies that could still function under a new environment may be

more suitable and practical.

In sum, considering that preventing climate change may do harm to the economy

and cannot be executed in reality, adjusting to the new environment may be a

more applicable choice for human beings.
