Sample answers:

1.To keep relationships, one has to stay in contact with others. For example,

if a person wants to keep friendships with his or her former high school

classmates when the person is already at college, he or she had better invite

these friends regularly for dinners, plays or concerts. Otherwise, the distance

might alienate the person from the old intimates.

2.To strengthen relationships, one has to contact others frequently. For

example, if a person wants to keep friendships with his or her former high

school classmates when the person is already at college, he or she had better

invite these friends regularly for dinners, plays or concerts. Otherwise, the

distance might alienate the person from the old intimates.

3.Quite a lot of reasons I guess. It is very likely that the person who wants

to put an end to a friendship is hurt by his or her friends. For instance, in

the soap opera, the heroine can get angry at her best forever because the one

she trusts most is cheating on her by having affairs with her boyfriend.

4.They had better meet each other once a week I guess because the period is

not too long for them to become a little become alienated but also not too short

for them to be burdened by the frequent appointments. If people are too busy, I

guess the least frequency should be once a month. Otherwise, it is hard to keep

the relationships.

5.Young people tend to keep their relationships by all kinds of applications.

They tend to review and give thumbs to their friends’ latest updates on social

networks such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. On the contrary, seniors often

meet their friends in person and talk over tea about what had happened in the

past. They have fewer but much more lasting friendship than youngsters do.

6.Friendship is an indispensable part of my life. When I am frustrated, I

need friends to cheer me up and give me some advice on working, studying or

keeping relationships. For example, when I fail in one examination, my best

friends forever could comfort me and tell me how to learn the subject after the

examination and we can go to canteen and library together.

7.It might be the reason that they are sometimes too competitive. For

instance, one of my high school classmates was excellent in every subject

examination. We admired her quite a lot and wanted to know whether there was an

efficient learning method, but she did not want to be surpassed, so none of us

wanted to speak to her any more.

8.Distance might be one most obvious factor. When two high school classmates

go to university, they might be distributed to two distant cities and they will

have their own college classmates respectively. Gradually, the geographical

location will alienate them. Besides, betrayal will also cause the friendships

to end suddenly. Two best friends might fight each other because they fall in

love with a same man or woman.

9.I am afraid yes. That is a terrible relationship. One of my former high

school classmates used to be my best friends. We went to canteen every day

during school. One day, she told me that she loved the one guy secretly and

wanted to confess to him. I was totally astonished to stop her because the guy

was actually the person who had written a love letter to me.

10.Well, I do not have a lot of friends I have to say. I guess those who have

many friends around them will feel very proud because that is a proof of their

outstanding skills of interpersonal relationships. When they go to occasions

such as company anniversary, school parties, or graduate balls, they will

definitely become the center of conversation groups.

11.Friends are similar to families because both of them will support and

protect us in front of danger.Close friends could help me at critical moments.

For example, when I need money to get through some difficulties, it is friends

and families who will stand out and cope with the problems with me together.

Also, indeed friends, like our parents, will feel happy for us rather than feel

envious to us when good things happen.

12.Definitely when I am a kid. When I was at primary school, things were

simple because whoever sit beside me or whoever played with me would be my

friends. If one of my classmates lived in the same neighborhood as I did, then

we would go home together every day. But when I grow up, to be friends require

same or at least similar outlooks on world.

13.I prefer to have one or two close friends rather than many friends who are

less close to me. Close friends could help me at critical moments. For example,

when I need money to get through some difficulties, it is close friends who will

stand out and cope with the problems with me together. But remote acquaintances

will find all kinds of excuses to say no.

14.Yes, remote acquaintances actually do not know each other that much.

Usually they will talk about some trivial matters such as buying what brands of

bags or daily commodities. But when it comes to the issue of interests, they

have not built such strong bonds and they will doubt and worry that whether the

money borrowed out can be returned or not.
