In many countries, average life expectancy has been increasing. What problems

will this cause for individuals and for society as a whole? Suggest some

As the medical care system and technology are developing rapidly in modern

society, people’s average expectancy has been increasing. The longevity of

people may bring side effects to individuals and the whole society such as aging

population. Some solutions will be given to solve those problems caused by the

increasing life expectancy.

Increasing life expectancy means bigger proportion of older people in the

population than before. This may result in fiercer employment pressure for young

people and emotional emptiness for the senior citizens. Before those senior

employees retire, young people will find it difficult to replace their positions

because of the lacking working experience compared to the older ones. For the

retirees, because of the increasing number of aging people and employment

pressure for their children, there will be more and more empty-nest elderly

people who cannot receive spiritual consolation from the younger generation.

Aging population brought by the longevity of people can also have negative

effects on the society. Because the senior citizens retire from the working

world, they no longer provide sufficient labor for the sustained economic growth

of the society and the aging laborers turn into pure wealth consumers. Moreover,

the elderly are not as innovative and energetic as the young people, so there

will be less chance for the whole society to make a breakthrough to challenge

the established traditions and change the status quo.

To solve those problems, I believe the government should release the policy

to arrange more young talented people to succeed the experienced laborers and

empower the older employees to offer constructive suggestions. Therefore, the

younger generation may face less heavy financial burden and spend more quality

time with the elderly people. The company should cultivate the corporation

culture to encourage young employees to put forward creative ideas to make a

difference to the current conditions.

解题思路

这道题是要求学生分析人民的平均寿命增加，将导致的问题以及解决办法，属于IELTS作文考试中要求分析原因/问题和解决方案的Report题型。这类题一般需要些2个主题段，主体段一分析两到三个原因，主体段二则是对应的给出几个解决方案。

思路参考：本篇范文用了四段来完成report文体的指令，305词左右，句式结构非常出色，从句、句句之间的连接转折，用的非常地道娴熟，通篇读下来，十分流畅，值得大家借鉴。
