Oh, this topic does touch some soft spot deep inside and make a lot of sweet memory flash back.
When I was a child, just like others, I liked nursery rhymes. The first one I learnt was a called I Have a Little donkey. If I remember correctly, the first time I heard it was in a music class by a sweet-voiced young lady when I was in kindergarten.

I remember it still probably because I’ve heard it for so many times at that period of time. I used to learn dancing and I was even a member of the dancing team of the kindergarten. The year when I was about to graduate, we were asked to do a show on the graduation ceremony. That song has a sprightly melody and tell a funny story which is quite suitable for our dance, so the choreographer picked up this song as the background music. Every day we had to learn and practice for two hours after class, so I had an earful of that song.
Years passed, I didn’t hear it until recently when I started tutoring a primary school girl for English. One day her mother played that song to her daughter, and I stood in amazement for like ten seconds and couldn’t help asking her why she chose to play that song since it was so old. She said it was so hard to find good songs for children that she finally found some songs she herself used to listen to when she was a child, and she thought that I Have a Little donkey was quite catchy and bright, which was good for children.

So you see, the good old songs will be passed on generation by generation. They are part of our life and tradition.
