学生在主体部分回应第 一个问题的时候写了如下一句话：

External environment plays a decisive role in children’s growing, which may

take the most responsibility for their crimes.

教师修改后的句子，如下：

The external environment plays a decisive role in children’s growth, which

is arguably the most important factor that either curtails or provokes the

criminal gene.

* 定冠词的缺失被补上了。

* “成长”这个概念有现成的名词growth。

* which引导的用来修饰growth的定语从句是这个句子的关键：

1)arguably the most important factor替代原来的简单粗暴的take the most

responsibility;

2)either curtails or provokes the criminal

genets替代原来的简单粗暴的crimes。其中，criminal genes——“犯罪的基因”是一个很有意思的表达，either ... or

…——“要么…要么…”用来介绍两个可能的情况，是不是比直接认定犯罪显得更理性一点。同时curtail和provoke这两个词要学会。

小总结

词汇肯定是要升级。词汇的升级不仅仅在于类似“curtail”和“provoke”这样的词(直接的“难度词”)，类似“criminal

genes”这种时髦的、有表达风格的词汇也要积累。
