Task：Some people think international cooperation has brought benefits to

world environment protection, while some people think more benefits have been

brought to international business. Discuss both views and give your own

opinion.

When it comes to the issue about how to evaluate international cooperation in

the current era, some people argue that the global environment benefits from

international cooperation, but others believe that global cooperation brings

more merits to international business.

On one hand, individuals may have a stronger sense of environmental

protection due to international cooperation. In some impoverished countries,

governments may focus on economic development and neglect environmental

preservation consciously or unconsciously. However, some global organizations

concentrating on protecting the environment do serve to enlighten the public on

the necessity of environmental protection and relevant knowledge through some

noncommercial adverts. Then, if governments approve of some projects that do

harm to the environment, local residents could realize the consequence and

attempt to protest those projects, improving the local environment, as well as

the global environment.

On the other hand, businessmen are also beneficiaries of global cooperation.

Currently, many companies in developed countries choose to open their factories

in other developing countries. Why? It is because they could recruit local

employees at a lower cost. Correspondingly, those businessmen could make more

profit since they successfully lower the product cost and developing countries

are also potent to solve the unemployment issue to some degree.

From my own perspective, both global business and environmental protection

benefit from international cooperation, but more emphasis should be placed on

environmental protection. As is mentioned above, some governments solely pay

attention to economic development because they believe that the environment

could be improved later. However, they are overoptimistic about their power. If

a species of animal becomes extinct because governments grab their habitat for

economic development, it is improbable to reproduce such a species any more.

Thus, instead of developing global economy, governments should focus on

protecting the global environment through cooperation with other

non-governmental organizations and associations.
