Task：

It is the responsibility of schools to teach good behavior in addition to

providing formal education. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

除了提供正规教育外，学校的责任是教导良好的行为，你在多大程度上同意或不同意?

Sample answer：

When it comes to the issue about the range of schools' responsibilities, some

people may argue that, apart from academic study, schools should also teach

students how to behave properly, but I may not agree with this opinion.

Admittedly, early education including moral education could serve to the

development of the society. Children and pre-teen students may be impotent to

judge right and wrong by themselves. If schools could offer them necessary

education, they may accept those rules and criteria without too much rebellion.

Then, when children grow older, there may exist fewer crimes since they have

been reminded of that they should follow specific rules and laws. Nevertheless,

there still exist more detriments caused by such behavior.

Initially, the main duty of schools is not to educate children morally, but

cultivate their knowledge and interest. It is acknowledged that teachers of

schools have acquired their diplomas, which may be a prerequisite for their

teaching. However, moral education is different from other fields and teachers

also need to be trained in terms of how to effectively communicate with and

guide students. Thus, it may not be proper to ask normal teachers to teach

children how to behave because it may not be what they are gifted in.

Furthermore, sometimes, teachers may not behave so well, due to which they

cannot be a model for students. Currently, there exist increasingly more

scandals concerning about schools and teachers. For example, plagiarism and

improper harassment towards students may sometimes be reported by social media.

With such news, it may be risky to trust all teachers since judging whether an

adult is a moral model or not seems more difficult.

In sum, considering that teachers may just specialize in their own majors and

sometimes they also have moral issues, it may not be proper to rely on schools

to teach students how to comply with rules and criteria.
