大家都知道定语从句是写作中经常会用到的句子，但是关于定语从句that的用法却有些混乱，因为that可以接同位语从句比如：The news that a

whole family was murdered in Ningxia shocked the public.

而且在定语从句中，如果先行词在从句中作宾语成分，又可以用that代替which和who，那么有没有哪些情况是只能用that而不是用who和which的呢?当然有，以下几种情况，是在写作中定语从句要注意的。

第一种情况：

当先行词即有人又有物的时候，那么这个引导词就是that，比如说：I know about GuoJingming and his books that

are very popular with young people in China.

The Nobel Prize winners and their achievements that my teacher told me when I

was a little girl influenced me a lot.

第二种情况：当先行词是anything, everything, nothing ,few, all, none, little,

some等代词时，后面的关系词就是that，that 也可以省略如

I have nothing that I think I should tell you.

That is all that I know.

第三种情况，当先行词是表示特指的时候，如only very right 来修饰乳

He is the only guy that I saw tomorrow in the classroom.

That bag lied on the floor was hers.

That factory that I visited yesterday is a deserted one.

第四种情况，当先行词被序数词，或者形容词的最高级修饰的时候;

The first novel I read is written by Dickens.

The only thing that we can do now is to pray.

第五种情况： 句中其他位置已出现which， 为避免重复， 不用which而用that引导限定性定语从句。

Which is the car that has overtaken us?

Which table is the one that we repaired yesterday?
