Multicultural societies, where people of different ethnic groups live together, can bring more benefits than drawbacks to a country. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In my opinion,the advantages of cultural diversity weigh heavier than the

disadvantages since the variety of races, cultures and traditions will make a

country more attractive and unique in its own way.

A major advantage is that the host culture is enriched by the contribution of

other cultural groups. Take food for example,the Chinese and Italian cuisine has

become popular all over the world because they have been introduced to

multicultural countries by immigrants.This has improved the choice and quality

of food for many people.In addition,a multicultural environment makes a city

become alive and fascinating and would attract tourists from many parts of the

world. As a result, it will help the tourism industry grow fast,create more job

opportunities and generate income tax for the local government.And there are

good example of multicultural cities,including Singapore Sydney and Toronto.

Furthermore, a multicultural society helps promote diversity and decrease

racial discrimination.People will get more direct understanding of other culture

and tradition from their foreign neighbors, colleagues and friends.For

instance,my cousin Bill who lives in a multicultural neighborhood where Asians

make up 60% Of the population African-Americans account for 20%. White occupy

20%.According to him,racism is very rare as people are used to seeing others of

different backgrounds. This is because people from one culture could share

information about their own culture,which can help people form other cultures

understand the rationale behind certain traditions and practices.

In conclusion,it is undeniable that multicultural environment has its

drawbacks.I believe the advantages of multicultural society far outweigh the

disadvantages if managed properly by the government.
