Task：The chart below shows the international applicants for a European

country from 2004 to 2008.

Sample answer：

The bar chart provides some information about how the number of applicants of

a university in Europe changed in four countries from 2004 to 2008.We can see

that the figures for four countries saw different trends across this period.

The number of applicants from China experienced a downward trend throughout

the period, decreasing from 27000 to 15000, although it was the highest among

four countries between 2004 and 2006.

However, more and more students in the USA and Japan applied for this

European university, which both rose slowly from 14000 and 6000 to 26000 and

10000 respectively during this period. And it is worth mention that the USA had

replaced China, becoming the country with the greatest number of applicants.

The applicants in Russia was always the least at around 3000 from the

beginning to the end.
