Part 1
※ Teacher’s model response is available to only some of the following
questions.
☆ Q1: Are you a student or do you work?
Teacher’s model response:
I wish I were a student, but I am not. I work at an educational institution
that prepare students for their studying abroad.
☆ Q2: Where do you live, in the city or the countryside?
☆ Q3: Do you think the city/town you live in is clean?
☆ Q4: Do you know anything about garbage classification? Do you know how to
classify garbage?
Teacher’s model response:
I think I know. I know that Shanghai is now having probably the most
difficult and very strict rules in garbage classification. I also know that
heavy fines apply when people fail to follow the regulations. I have some
knowledge about the sorting system, but I need specific instructions to remind
me constantly of where some rubbish can be disposed of properly.
☆ Q5: Are you good at managing your time? / Are you an organized
person?
☆ Q6: What is the most difficult part in making a plan?
Part 2
Topic: Advice
Describe an advice you received which was about choosing major or job.
:
who gave it to you
when you received it
what the advice was about
and explain how you felt about it.
Teacher’s model response:
Well, this topic just reminds me of plenty of times I was given advice, and
I have a lot to say about my choice of major and job.
My parents intervened, or interfered at some point, when I was making the
decision about my major and my job.
Actually, the advice was given repeatedly during the whole week before I
needed to submit the form for my final decision. I can recall that the dining
table was like a battle field, where my mum, my father and I had divergent
ideas.
The advice was all about the availability of jobs in the area. And they
obviously preferred the areas that were familiar to them and would offer many
job opportunities.
It was not a pleasant experience at all, to be honest. First of all, even
those two, my parents, did not have a consensus at that point, and when they
were arguing for their own considerations, the whole discussion or negotiation
was, well, an interesting debate. It was like that I was holding a marriage
counselling session, and, obviously, I was the counsellor, who jumped into the
debate at some points. And unfortunately, I could not make the situation better,
and instead I could only turn the whole thing into a greater mess or fiasco.
Part 3
※ Teacher’s model response is available to only some of the following
questions.
☆ Q1: Is it hard for young people in your country to make a choice about
their career?
☆ Q2: What factors may affect young people’s career choice in China?
☆ Q3: Do parents in your country like to give advice to their children?
Teacher’s model response:
Not only do they do it, they also do it in an unpleasant way. They
patronize their children, and the condescending attitude is certainly not so
welcome.
☆Q4: Whose advice do you think is more helpful, teachers’ or parents’?
Teacher’s model response:
Can I say “Neither”? This question just reminds me of unpleasant times.
Teachers acted like experts in giving career advice and my parents were even
worse. I actually read books about professions and watched TV programs about
making professions. There was the program in which an average person was chosen
to tell the audience about his or her job, and I found that the information was
actually quite useful, and more useful than my teachers’ or parents’.
☆ Q5: What advice do young people often receive today?
☆ Q6: Who are more willing to accept others’ advice, the younger ones or
the older ones?推荐阅读:9-12月雅思口语话题精简预测!雅思写作字数不够怎么办?雅思口语Part 2:公园类话题该如何描述?雅思口语话题有哪些呢?
