Task:There are more and more people tend to travel to other countries during their

holidays.Do you think it is appositive trend or negative trend for the countries they

travel to?

Sample answer:

Nowadays, there are a growing number of people preferring to travel abroad

for vacation, which boosts the tourism industry in nations they visit. However,

this tendency produces several negative effects in some aspects.

On one hand, international travel does enhance the dissemination of local

culture and customs as well as stimulate economic growth. Statistics show that

every year thousands of foreign tourists pay a visit to Beijing, Shanghai and

Yunnan which are world-famous cities in China. There are no better chances for

them to have a deep understanding of grand architecture in Qing Dynasty when

visiting the Forbidden City; to appreciate the rhythm and scenes of Shanghai

opera when watching a fantastic show in Yu Garden; to experience the happiness

and blessings of the Water-Sprinkling Festival when celebrating the moment with

people of Dai nationality. Meanwhile, much attention can be paid by natives and

authorities to the preservation of cultural heritage.

In addition, in order to meet the high demands for accommodation and

catering, hotels and restaurants spring up around tourist attractions, which

creates lots of job opportunities as well as promotes the prosperity of local

economy. It is particularly true for countries such as Thailand whose state

revenue mainly depends on income of tourism. What’s more, the appealing and

exotic cultural customs brought by overseas visitors contribute to the cultural

diversity.

On the other hand, overseas travel diminishes national identity, which can be

proved in the situation where Chinese people decorate Christmas trees and

exchange gifts at Christmas so as to cater to the needs of tourists from Western

countries. Instead, less passion and enthusiasm were hold by citizens especially

young people about Spring Festival. Besides, the environment of scenic spots

might be destroyed. Reports reveal some travelers from developing countries tend

to dump garbage in natural parks or smoking in non-smoking zones, in which case,

local government has to allocate funds as well as labor to solve environmental

issues.

In conclusion, as far as I am concerned that numerous tourists from abroad

flock into resorts has brought more advantages and in order to benefit more from

the overseas travel, it is vital for government to launch campaigns to

strengthen traditional values of citizens and regulate the penalty for

wrongdoings.
